  • I read a lot, and I have a lot of opinions, so I can't believe I haven't made a list like this before. If you are even a little bit like me or you want to get a peek into my psyche (you probs don't), these are the books to read.

Friday Five: To note

Posted on June 5th, 2009 by annakjarzab

1. Joanna and I both posted yesterday on our A-Team blog: J on BEA, and me on what I’ve been doing while I’ve been waiting for book stuff to happen–namely, figuring out how I’m going to do my book trailer. We’re working on a way to auto feed those posts into this blog’s sidebar (or something, E and I are still hammering out details), so soon you won’t need me to tell you every time a new post goes up, but I’ll keep doing that for the time being. If you have anything you’d like us to talk about on there, BTW, just hit me up!

2. Also, on the hidden content: I’ve been getting a lot of great feedback from people who’ve found and liked the HC! I’m so glad you guys think it’s cool. I plan to do more of it (I’ve got a nice collection of things to post), but gradually, so I don’t flood the site with it all at once. Just in case, I feel I should point out that eventually all the dolls on the site will be optimized, not just the “hidden” ones on inside pages, and some of them already are. Hint hint.

3. That said, something else just went up. A little thing.

4. Oh, and Dia Reeves, one of my fellow Tenners and author of Bleeding Violet (January 5, 2010 y’all!), created a Listmania! of Tenners books on Amazon (the ones that are up; more will be added as they go up for preorder). There are so many awesome books I’m looking forward to reading, I really can’t wait for 2010 to roll around.

5. The word on the street is that AUT ARCs are coming next week! Of course I’ll be out of town, because the universe is totes on my side, and I don’t yet know how many I’m getting, but I know what I’ll be doing with them: giving them away right here on this site! Okay, not all of them. But some of them! And some of them I’ll be giving away on other sites! I have a very organized plan for this (I have no plan, but I believe one will come to me).

Haha, not a dunce. ARC=advanced reader copies.

five things in the comments

1. i left a comment for you once before on lj. i remember mentioning i love your handwriting. just so you know who i am. i always wonder if authors are like, “who is this crazy random girl stopping by to comment?”, and so i always feel i have to explain who i am so i don’t feel like a creeper.

2. your site inspired me to order a matryoshka necklace on etsy. i’d forgotten how much i love those dolls. eastern europe ftw. (i’m polish, too. hooray for supposedly unpronounceable but deceptively simple last names!)

3. when it comes to contests, i never win anything, so at your mention of arcs, i headed over to ebay and saved a search for your book. i know some authors may find this offensive, but i hope it’s a compliment. it is a testament to how badly i want to read it. if it makes you feel better, i have an arc of paper towns and both covers (well, technically, i have only one cover. the other was for my brother. but still. i rarely buy arcs, and when i do, it’s because my impatience has gotten the better of me).

4. in the same vain, i’d appreciate it if you could throw me a bone and possibly not mention an ebay listing until after the auction is over. i’m not made of money, and i think it’s a little sketchy to want to make cash off something that the seller likely got free, assuming s/he is lucky enough to have contacts, unlike myself. however, i know an ebay listing is a milestone (be it good or bad), so i totally understand if you want to post it!

5. sorry this is so long. i have a deadly combination of a constantly vacationing internal editor and a tendency to over-write!

Amy,

LOL, you’re not a creeper! I love comments, can’t get enough of them (when they’re not spam, oh the Internet…).

We probably bought the same necklace! I wear a lot of pendants, cycling them through, and I think it’s time for the matryoshka again. Yay for being fellow Poles!

I’ll be giving away as many ARCs as I possibly can, so there’ll be plenty of opportunity to win one. I have to say, I can’t imagine anyone would want to sell an ARC of my book on eBay, but I guess it’s happened to a lot of authors and it is sort of a compliment. Still, even if it happens I probably won’t know about it until it’s over, so I wouldn’t worry about me mentioning it on the site. Selling ARCs is something the publishers frown upon, and it’s technically illegal (or, I guess…? I wonder if there’s an actual law against it, or if publishers just say that to scare people). That’s not to say I haven’t bought any in the past, because I totally have. Sometimes you can’t wait (or, if you’re like me, want to have it in paperback when it’s in hardcover).

THAT VIDEO WAS AWESOME BTW! It’s been a bit of a day, and it made me laugh so hard! Thanks for sharing it. 🙂
